Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) combined to make 10 saves to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 2-0 win over the Westfield State University Owls in a Little East Conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Winning its fourth straight over the Owls, Southern Maine now leads the 27-game series 21-6-0. The Huskies defeated Westfield State by the same score in 2021 at home. The win keeps Southern Maine undefeated in the Little East Conference at 5-0.

How It Happened:
- Twitchell gave Southern Maine a 1-0 lead just before half, scoring her fourth goal of the season, in the 28th minute. Sophomore Abigail Chartier (Lewiston, Maine) inserted a penalty corner to junior Jordan Cummings (Auburn, Maine) who fed Twitchell for the lead.
- Banks made it 2-0 just before the end of the third period, scoring an unassisted goal in the 45th minute. Banks' third goal of the season followed a penalty corner inserted by junior Brooke Carson (Bryant Pond, Maine). Banks received the pass and then used some crafty stick work to weave through the Owll defense before scoring through the five-hole of Westfield goalkeeper Paige Reisman.
- The Owls pressured in the fourth, outshooting the Huskies 6-0 in the quarter. However, Husky freshman goalkeeper Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine), who entered at the half, was up to the task making five saves.
- USM freshman Olivia Staggs (Sabattus, Maine/Oak Hill) contributed to the Huskies' clean sheet making a defensive save in the fourth quarter . It is the first defensive save of Staggs' intercollegiate career.

Inside The Statistics:
- Southern Maine outshot Salem State 26-7 (20-4 on target) and had a 13-5 lead in penalty corners.
- Drinkwater's hat trick is the second of her career. Drinkwater had four goals in her first intercollegiate game a 6-5 win over Thomas College in 2021. She has 20 goals and seven assists in her career for 47 points. She is 22nd in career points in USM record books.
- Carson has scored a brace in back-to-back games for the Huskies, scoring a pair of goals in USM's 5-0 win over Bridgewater State on Saturday.
- USM has outscored its first four Little East Conference opponents 20-2.
