Breanna Atwood (Franklin, Mass.) earned her fourth shutout of the season to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 1-0 victory over the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in a Little East Conference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Rick McCarthy Field.
Facing each other for the 39
th time in series history, Southern Maine is now 2-0-1 against the Warriors in its last three games. Prior to the Huskies 1-1 draw in the 2021 regular season, the Warriors had a 21-game unbeaten streak against USM. ECSU leads the overall series 31-5-3. .

How It Happened:
- Gould was able to net the game-winner controlling a failed clearance from the ECSU backline and slotting the ball past Warrior goalkeeper Rachel Hughes to the near post. Huskies' freshman Devon Gatz (Millis, Mass.) served in the dangerous ball to the top of the 18 and a Warrior defender attempted to head it clear but it found Gould. Gould took a touch and played a low shot to the left for the goal.
- Atwood (Franklin, Mass.) made four saves in the shutout, making two in each half. Atwood made a near-post save in the closing minutes of the first half off of a direct kick from ECSU's Briley Harnois.
