GORHAM, Maine –   Sean Cafferty scored his first goal of the season in the 37
th minute and the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors did enough to make the goal stand to earn a 1-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.
 
With the win, ECSU leads the overall series against Southern Maine 31-6-3.

How It Happened: 
	- Cafferty took a leading pass from Caleb Ennin in the Huskies' defensive third and was sprung free in the box slotting the ball to the far post past a diving save attempt from Husky senior goalkeeper Hayes Estrella (Kennebunk, Maine/Thornton Academy).  
 
	- Outshooting Eastern 14-11 overall, the Huskies had several solid scoring chances, and pressured for an equalizer in the second half with a 9-3 advantage in shots.  Freshman Josiah Irish (Gorham, Maine) had a pair of near misses in the final 15 minutes, while senior Ronan Hume (Marshfield, Mass.) put one on frame in the 63rd only to have it turned aside in a strong save from ECSU's Nathan Yeich.

Inside The Stats: 
	- USM outshot ECSU 14-11, but both teams were equal in shots on goal at five each. 
 
	- Eastern led USM 10-7 in corner kicks.  The Huskies registered six of their seven corner kicks in the second half. 
 
	- ECSU pressured early and had four of its corners in the opening eight minutes of play.
