BANGOR, Maine – Maddie Perkins scored in the first quarter to lead the Husson University Eagles to a 2-0 win over University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference field hockey game Thursday evening at the Winkin Complex.
Facing each other for the seventh time, Husson leads the series 5-2. Southern Maine earned a 4-1 win over the Eagles at home in 2021, but the Eagles have won three of the last four.

How It Happened:
- Outshooting the Huskies 8-2 in the first quarter, Perkins broke through in the 14th minute to put Husson up 1-0. The goal is her fourth of the season. Perkins' goal stood through the half.
- Husson doubled its lead in the third when Katie Perkins broke through for a second Eagles' goal in the 38th minute off of an assist from Julia Murch.
- USM outshot Husson 6-1 in the final quarter but could not break up the shutout. Huskies' sophomore Sage Drinkwater (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) led USM with six shots.
