Sophie Lindsay (Sierra Madre, Cail./Pasadena) made her return to the Husky lineup and helped lead the University of Southern Maine women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Castleton University in their first Little East Conference game of the season. The Huskies later lost to Suffolk University 3-0 to split the home tri-match.

History: The Huskies move to 8-0 all-time against Castleton.

How It Happened:
- The Huskies dominated set number one thanks in part of an early 8-2 run. Southern Maine never trailed in the set and withstood a strong comeback attempt to the Spartans to take the first set by a score of 25-16.
- The two second set sat seven ties and four lead changes before the pulled away to go up two sets to none with a 25-18 set victory.
- Castleton briefly led 2-1 in the third set before allowing eighth consecutive points to the Huskies. The visitors were never able to reclaim the lead or tie the score as the Huskies cruised to a 25-12 win to sweep the match and earn their first LEC victory of the season.

- After missing the first seven games of the season due to injury Lindsay had an outstanding 2022 debut and tallied nine kills, 26 assists, and 14 digs.
- Junior Tori McMahon (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./ Roy C. Ketcham) led all players with 17 digs.
- Junior Kailey Foley (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) recorded a career-high 11 kills to lead all players.
- Castleton was led in digs by Mackenzie Wade with 16 while Hailey Martinovich was the top attacker for the Spartans with seven kills.

How It Happened:
- Suffolk, who swept Castleton in the middle match of the triple-header, continued their strong play and never trailed in either the first or second set.
- The Rams took the third set 25-12 to complete the sweep and finish 2-0 on afternoon.

- Suffolk recorded 18 service aces compared to Southern Maine's four.
- Freshman Drew Johnson (Pismo Beach, Cali. /Brewer) reached double-figures in kills for the first time in her career with 10.
- McMahon once again led the Huskies in digs with 11 while Lindsay logged 15 assists to lead the team.
- Suffolk's McKenna Keowen recorded 11 kills to lead all players.
- Kenzley Bell and Harmony Johnson each had 11 digs for the Rams and each tallied four service aces.
- Johnson also finished as the game-leading in assists with 30.
