GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies men's soccer team started its 2022 campaign with a win on the road coming away with a 1-0 victory at Saint Joseph's College. The Huskies benefitted from an own goal in the 61st minute for the win. With the victory, Southern Maine is now 14-14-3 all-time against the Monks.

How It Happened:
- After an offsides call against the Monks, Southern Maine took a free kick from its defensive half of the field. The ball was lofted into the 18 and a SJC defender head the ball clear, but an unfortunate bounce put the ball in the back of the Monks' net to break the 0-0 stalemate.
- The goal came against the run of play as SJC had outshot the Huskies 13-1 at that point.
- Southern Maine senior goalkeeper and 2022 team co-captain Hayes Estrella (Kennebunk, Maine/Thornton Academy) earned his win by shutout, making eight saves in the win..
