GORHAM, Maine -  Recognizing the outstanding achievements of our University of Southern Maine  student-athletes is something we are proud to do.  Since January of this year, Huskies' Athletics and University Credit Union have partnered up to highlight the varied and vital contributions USM student-athletes make in competition, in the classroom and in the community.  Whether its big-time performances for their team, or big steps in their academic and career goals, USM & UCU are ready to celebrate our Student-Athletes of the Month.

Chosen by members of the Athletic Department administration, recipients of this honor successfully embody the Five Pillars of USM Athletics: Academic Excellence, Athletic Achievement, Personal Growth, Professional Development and Service to Community.

May 2022's UCU Student-Athlete of the Month honors will be the last of the 2021-2022 academic year.  Huskies' Athletics looks forward to continuing this recognition program in 2022-23 with University Credit Union.

Luckhardt UCU Student Athlete of the MonthCompleting her intercollegiate career, Huskies' women's basketball co-captain Jackie Luckhardt recently earned her Master's degree in Leadership Studies.  Bouncing back from a season-ending injury as a sophomore and navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, Luckhardt completed her outstanding career as just the second women's basketball player to record at least 1000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 300 steals.

A rare five-time William B. Wise Scholar Athlete, Jackie earned her undergraduate degree in Athletic training. In 2020, Jackie was named the recipient of the Paula D. Chosen as one of two student-athlete speakers at the 2022 Athletic Senior Honors night, Jackie has been a student employee in the athletic department for five years, with duties ranging from game management, athletic communications and facility operations. As spring sports came to a close, Jackie went above and beyond in her role as a student-employee in Athletic Communications, helping ensure game day operations were executed to standard.
