HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After a scoreless first two innings, Southern Maine jumped on top of SJC with five runs in the top of the third.  Sophomores Janek Luksza (South Paris, Maine/Oxford Hills) and Cam Seymour (Saco, Maine/thornton Academy) had an RBI single and RBI double respectively to start the inning, while Pike added two more runs to the Husky tally for a 4-0 lead with a double to left.  USM made it 5-0 on an RBI single from sophomore Lucas Francis (Libson, Maine) before ending the inning.
  • A Husky double play from Luksza and Seymour helped erase a lead off single from the Monks in the bottom of the third and USM scored three more runs in the top of the fourth to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Seymour reached on a one-out double to start the inning and scored on an RBI single from senior Jason Komulainen (Gorham, Maine).  Up 6-0, Pike launched his second home run in as many games – a two-run shot to left – making it 8-0
  • Robbins sat the SJC batters in order in the home half of the fourth before USM made it 11-0 in the top of the fifth  USM took advantage of a hit by pitch, a walk, a passed ball and an RBI ground out from junior tom Vesosky (Colchester, Vermont) and an RBI single from Luksza to make it 10-0 before Pike had an RBI walk for the 11-0 scoreline. USM scored its final run of the game in the seventh off of one of five SJC errors in the game.
  • Luksza was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a pair of RBI for the Huskies, while junior Jonathan Wilson (East Granby, Conn) went 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Seymour finished the game with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBi in a 2-for-5 effort at the plate.
