GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine men's outdoor track and field team will compete in the Little East Conference men's outdoor track and field championship meet on Saturday, April 30 at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Participating Teams: Castleton, Eastern Connecticut State, Keene State, Plymouth State, Rhode Island College, UMass Boston, and UMass Dartmouth
History: The Huskies have won five of the last six LEC outdoor track and field championships, with their most recent win coming in 2019. The Little East did not host a championship meet in 2020.
Preview: The Huskies return two individual champions from their team that placed second at the 2021 Little East Conference championships.
Ben Drummey (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) won the pole vault at last season's championships and set a new meet record in the event.
Antoine Grace (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) won both the 100m and 200m dashes at the 2021 LEC Championship meet and is ranked second in the 200m dash and seventh in the 100m dash going into this year's meet.
After a successful regular season, multiple Huskies come into the conference championship ranked first in their respective events. Masho Gebremikael (Portland, Maine/Deering) holds the top time in the conference in the 10,000 meter run. Gebremikael is also ranked fourth in the 5,000m run and won the event at the 2022 LEC indoor track and field championships. The Huskies' 4x100m relay team also has the top time in the conference this season.
In the pole vault, Drummey, Riley Peterson (Barnet, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy), CJ Moody (Old Town, Maine/Old Town), and Alyas Ahmady (South Portland, South Portland) have the top four marks in the pole vault this season and will look to dominate the event. Moody also has the top mark in the long jump, where teammates Drummey and Jacob Jackson (Auburn, Maine/Auburn) rank second and sixth. Jackson and Moody rank second and fourth in the high jump as well.
Numerous other Huskies rank in the top-five in their respective events, including Trever Grenier (Old Orchard Beach, Maine/Old Orchard Beach) in the 400m hurdles, Moody in the 100m hurdles, Scott Lightbody (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) in the 3000m steeplechase, Jackson in the triple jump, and Kaleb Frey (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) in the discus. The Huskies' 4x400m relay team has the third fastest time in the conference.
