PROVIDENCE, RI – Rachel Shanks (Naples, Maine/Lake Region) scored six goals and tallied four assists to lead a pack of eight Huskies in scoring as the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's lacrosse team took down the Rhode Island College Anchormen on Wednesday afternoon in Providence. This is Shanks' second game of the season with ten or more points. Shanks' fifth goal of the evening marked her 100th career goal.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
-Jennifer Darasz (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) scored back-to-back goals to open the game and Shanks scored twice in the first quarter to give the Huskies an early lead.
-The most competitive quarter of play saw an equal number of draw controls won by each team (four) and only three goals separated the two going into the second quarter. Maddie Kross (PeachTree City, Ga.) and Olivia Carpentino (Wilmington, Mass.) each scored for Rhode Island College in the first quarter.
-The Huskies scored five consecutive goals to open up the second quarter and take control of the game as Kate Colvin (Winchester, Mass./Governor's Academy), Shanks,

-The Huskies' defense and Racine shut out the Anchormen in the third quarter, while Evelyn Hinkley (West Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner), Shanks, Gatchell, Nichols, and Paige Rinaldi (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) combined for six goals.
-Darasz and Colvin each added two more goals in the fourth quarter and Laslavic made four saves in net to bring the final score to 21-4.
-The Huskies committed just 15 team turnovers and went 15-for-16 on clear attempts.
-Colvin won 11 draw controls, while Darasz and Zoe Cheetham Wilmot (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) scooped up three ground balls each.
