DANBURY, Conn. – Fueled by a six-goal first quarter and seven goals from Dominique DeMarsico (Danbury, Conn.), the Western Connecticut State University Wolves took down the University of Southern Maine Huskies 14-11 on the final day of the regular season in Danbury.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
-The first quarter of play was all Western Connecticut as the Wolves put up six unanswered goals. Three goals came from the stick of DeMarsico, two from Colleen Foley (Kingston, Mass.), and one from Mia Schumey (West Hartford, Conn).
-The Huskies got to work in the second quarter as Rachel Shanks (Naples, Maine/Lake Region) and Evelyn Hinkley (West Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner) each scored and the Southern Maine defense held the Wolves to just two goals. Racine made four saves in the second quarter alone.
-Coming out of halftime down 8-2 the Huskies launched an impressive third quarter comeback, highlighted by two goals from Shanks, two from Hinkley, and a goal from Emily Baker (Limerick, Maine/Massabesic). Baker had a goal and two assists in the game.
-After cutting the deficit to four goals, the fourth quarter opened up with goals from Jillian Nichols (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) and DeMarsico. The Huskies then scored by back to back goals from Kate Colvin (Winchester, Mass./Governor's Academy) and Hinkley to make the score 12-10.
-In the final five minutes of play, Western Connecticut was able to put two more up on the board, while the Huskies managed one from Colvin.
-Zoe Cheetham Wilmot (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) had three caused turnovers in the defensive effort, while
Rhiannon McQuaide (Wells, Maine/Wells) had one ground ball and one caused turnover.
