HOW IT HAPPENED: USM 9, Babson 5
- The Huskies scored early taking a 1-0 lead in the first. Husky junior Tom Vesosky (Colchester, Vermont) led off with a triple to the gap in right, and Seymour knocked an RBI single into center for the run.
- With the Huskies defense turning a double play in the first and the second to aid Burnett, the Huskies' starter retired the Babson side in order in the third, preserving the 1-0 lead.
- In the home half of the third, Vesosky again led off the inning with a hit, singling up the middle. Senior Jason Komulainen (Gorham, Maine) had an one out infield single to put runners on first and third before junior Arlo Pike (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) quickly made it a 4-0 Husky lead with a home run deep over the right field fence.
- Down four runs, Babson came back in the top of the fourth as Patrick Manning led off the inning with a solo home run to right. Tanner Santos and Josh Yellen went back-to-back with singles to put runners on first and second and a one-out hit-by-pitch to Jackson Kelly loaded the bases for the Beavers. Michael Cook made it 4-2 with an RBI fielder's choice, before Luca Rubin pulled Babson even with a two-out two RBI double to left scoring Cook and Kelley.
- With the game tied and with one against the Huskies in the fourth, Vesosky collected his third hit of the game with an RBI single through the left side, and was followed by two-run double to left from Seymour for a 7-4 USM lead.
- The score remained unchanged until the bottom of the sixth as Seymour knocked a two-run home run to give USM a 9-4 advantage. In the top of the seventh, Babson made it 9-5 with an RBI single from Yellen, but USM's third double play of the game kept the inning from being more of a problem.
- A quiet eighth, except for a lone single to USM's Pike kept the game at 9-5 as the Beavers headed to the top of the ninth for their final three outs. Francis gave up a lead off walk and a one-out pinch hit single to Michel O'Brien before being lifted for Seymour. Seymour came on and got a fly out and a strikeout to close the game.
- Vesosky finished the game 3-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI as the Huskies' lead off. Pike was 2-for-5 with three RBI.
- Babson's Manning, Santos and Yellen each had two hits. Luca Rubin was 1-for-4 with two RBI.
