HOW IT HAPPENED: USM 7 Bowdoin 3
- Falling behind 1-0 on a solo home run Bowdoin's Ben McKenzie to lead off the game, Southern Maine came back with two runs in the first. Junior Jonathan Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) had a RBI sacrifice fly to foul territory in left field to drive in the go-ahead run.
- Bowdoin answered in the top of the second on another solo shot – this time from Nick Merrill to left field. The Polar Bears threatened for more with back-to-back singles from Richie McNamara and McKenzie but a heads-up play in left from USM senior Brogan Searle-Belanger (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) elimited the threat catching Bowdoin's lead runner.
- The score remained knotted up at 2-2 until the bottom of the fourth. Junior Colby Dexter (Belgrade, Maine/Messalonskee) had an RBI bunt single to put USM up 3-2, before classmate Tom Vesosky (Colchester, Vermont) had an RBI single through the left side. Pike made it 7-2 two batters later with a three-run shot over the center field fence (388) for his team-leading sixth home run of the season.
- Bowdoin took back a run in the top of the seventh on an RBI sacrifice fly from CJ Brito-Trinidad but it was the last offense of the game as USM held for the 7-3 win.
