GORHAM, Maine – Michael Claflin (Newton, Mass.) scored six goals to lead eight Beacons in scoring as The University of Massachusetts at Boston took down the Southern Maine Huskies 21-9 in Gorham on Tuesday afternoon.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
-The opening five minutes of the game were incredibly even as Darragh Fahey (Walpole, Mass.) scored for the Beacons, followed by back-to-back Huskies goals from Tuckner Nussinow (Winthrop, Maine/Kent Hills School) and Schuyler Wetmore (Cumberland Center, Maine/Greely).
-Down 2-1 early, the Beacons scored four straight goals in less than four minutes to reclaim a 6-2 lead. Wetmore and Claflin were both able to get one more in the net in the last minute of the first quarter, bringing the score to 7-3.
-Jacob Banks (Westminster, Mass.) and Wetmore each scored to open the second quarter in an even fashion, but the Beacons went on another mid-quarter run and brought their lead to 13-4 at the half.
-The Beacons out-scored the Huskies by just one in the third quarter, finding three goals from their offense to the Huskies two.
