BALTIMORE, Maryland – Facing off against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents in its second date of competition, the 13
th-ranked University of Southern Maine Huskies dropped a pair of games on the road. USM fell to No. 8 Salisbury 17-3 in its first game of the day, before dropping a 6-3 decision to No. 4/5 Johns Hopkins.
The Salisbury Sea Gulls collected 13 hits off of the Huskies in game one and took advantage of four Southern Maine defensive miscues. Six of the Sea Gulls 13 hits were for extra bases, including three home runs. Johns Hopkins avenged yesterday's 7-5 (10 inn) loss to the Huskies as starting pitcher Jack McRae (Maitland, Fla./Bishop Moore) and freshman Reed Bolin (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) held USM to five hits.

- Salisbury broke open a 2-1 game with a seven-run top of the third en route to the win. The Sea Gulls had scored their seven runs on three hits, two walks, a hit by pitch, and a pair of Husky fielding errors. Salisury senior Stephen Rice (Woodbine, Md./Mount Airy Christian Academy) had a two-run double as part of the innings.
- Ahead 11-3 after five innings, Salisbury had another big inning scoring four runs in the top of the sixth to lead 15-3. Salisbury junior Kavi Caster (Crofton, Md./South River) had an RBI single through the left side in the inning, while Rice knocked a two-run home run to left centerfield.
- Caster made it 17-3 in the eighth with a two-run home run of his own to the same part of the park as Rice.
- USM juniors tom Vesosky (Colchester, Vermont) and Jonathan Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) and sophomore Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy) each had RBI for the Huskies.

GM 2: HOW IT HAPPENED – Johns Hopkins 6, USM 3
- Johns Hopkins used a four-run bottom of the third to do a bulk of the damage for the 6-3 win over Southern Maine. Trailing 2-1, the Blue Jays scored four runs on four hits, including an RBI double from senior AJ King (Cincinatti, Ohio), an RBI single from senior Jack Walters (Marlton, N.J.) and a two-run double from senior Jared deFaria (Weston, Fla.) to take a 5-3 lead headed into the fourth.
- Husky junior Arlo Pike (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) took one back for Southern Maine with an RBI single through the right side. Pike's single drove in senior Brogan Searle-Belanger (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) – Searle-Belanger led off the inning with a single through the left side making it a 5-3 game.
- The Blue Jays countered quickly in the bottom of the fourth as freshman Dylan Whitney (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park River Forest) hit a solo home run down the left field line for a 6-3 score in favor of Johns Hopkins.
- Freshman Reed Bolin (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) earned the win for the Blue Jays. Entering the game in the fifth, Bolin pitched the next five innings yielding just one hit and picking up three strikeouts.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Pike finished the two games 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. He had three walks and a double.
- The third inning was trouble for USM in both games. the Huskies gave up seven runs against Salisbury in game one and four runs against JHU in game two during the third.
