Huskies Bested by Bobcats on the Road

LEWISTON, Maine – Trish Balser (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), Kate Loughlin (Portsmouth, N.H.), and Dana Swartz (North Andover, Mass.) each netted hat tricks as the Bates College Bobcats took down the University of Southern Maine Huskies 18-1 in Lewiston on Wednesday night. 

When and Where: Wednesday, March 2 – Bates College – Garcelon Field

Score: Bates 18, Southern Maine 1

History: This was the 25th matchup between the two teams. The Bobcats now lead the series 25-0 

The Records: Southern Maine: 1-1-0 ; Bates College : 1-1-0 

The Goaltenders: Cece Racine (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston): 14 saves, .389 save percentage ;
Cammie Lavoie (Epping, N.H.): one save, 1.000 save percentage, Avery Lehman (Pottstown, Pa), zero saves, 0.00 save percentage

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score: 
-Swartz scored her first of three goals 25 seconds into the game to open up the scoring for the Bobcats.

-In the first half of play, Bates notched twelve of their 18 goals. Swartz scored all three of her goals in the first half and Balser and Loughlin both added two.

-Rachel Shanks (Naples, Maine/Lake Region) scored the Huskies lone goal of the game at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Zoe Cheetham-Wilmot (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) recorded the assist on the goal. 

-Racine made 14 saves for the second game in a row, bringing her season total to 28 saves.

Up Next: The Huskies will host the Wheaton College Lyons in a non-conference game on March 4, at 4pm.
