GORHAM, Maine – Six Huskies had multi-point games as the University of Southern Maine men's hockey team demolished Anna Maria College 7-2 to end the calendar year with a decisive victory. The seven goals for the Huskies are the most by the team since they scored eight in a win over Castleton University on February 8, 2019.

How It Happened/Inside the Boxscore:
- Senior Curtis Judd (Newton, Mass./Albany Academy) scored his sixth goal of the season 4:14 into the first period to put the Huskies up 1-0.
- The AMCATS tied the game at 1-1 a few minutes later with a Carter Anderson goal.
- Senior Nolan McElhaney (Natick, Mass./Long Island University) put the Huskies back ahead with a slick unassisted goal, his third of the season.
- The second period saw the Huskies extend their lead to 4-1 with two goals in less than three minutes from sophomore Tyler Mitchell (Burlington, ON, Canada) and graduate student Tyler Gardiner (Watertown, Mass.).
- Mitchell's goal resulted in Richardson taking over the goaltender duties from Johnston.
- Anna Maria's Samson Mouland quickly made it 4-2 with a goal less than a minute later.
- Freshman Kadin Ilott (Kenora, ON, Canada) scored his first career goal in the final minute of the second period to extend the lead to 5-2.
- The explosive offensive performance for the Huskies continued into the third period and saw them score two goals in a span of 1:05. The first goal came when Judd found the back of the net for the second time thanks to an assist by his fellow assistant captain sophomore Zach Desmarais (St. Cyrille, QC, Canada). The final goal for the Huskies came when Mitchell whistled a pass to a crashing Mathieu Sabourin (Alexandria, ON, Canada) who buried the puck in the back of the net for his third goal of the season.
- Penton had another solid game between the pipes with 22 saves with half of his saves coming in the second period.
- In addition to good goalie play from Penton the Huskies were stout and disruptive on defense while dominating the shots on goal 43-24.
- Ilott and junior Cole Ouellette (Lewiston, Maine) each had two assists in the contest. Ouellete now has seven helpers on the season and three two-assist games.
- Mitchell and Sabourin each had a goal and an assist.
Up Next:Â The Huskies now head into their winter break and will return to action on New Year's Day with a non-conference game against Bowdoin College. The game will be the first of a four-game homestead for the Huskies to open the new year.
