CASTLETON, Vermont – Emily Harris scored five minutes into overtime to lift the Castleton University Spartans to a 4-3 overtime win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon at Dave Wolk Stadium.
The loss ends a four-game win streak for the Huskies, and hands Southern Maine its first conference loss of the season. Playing each other the sixth time, USM leads the series 4-2. USM defeated CU in 2021 by the score of 4-3 in Gorham.

How It Happened:
- The Huskies led the Spartans 3-2 with just second remaining in regulation; however, Castleton was awarded a penalty stroke with 19 seconds left. Kaitlin Bardellini converted for the Spartans, scoring her 10th goal of the season to force overtime
- In overtime, Harris, who scored earlier in the game, notched her LEC-leading 20th goal of the season to deliver the win.
- Southern Maine took an early lead in the game going up 1-0 on sophomore Ginny twitchell's (turner, Maine/Leavitt) fifth goal of the season just 45 seconds into the contest. Sophomore Sage Drinkwater (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and Abigail Chartier (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) each scored the Huskies.
