GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore
Sage Drinkwater (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) notched her second hat trick of the season to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 7-0 win over the UMaine Farmington Beavers in a non-conference field hockey game Thursday afternoon at Prescott Field.
With the win, the Huskies improve to 10-5 overall. Senior
Samantha Ellis (New Vineyard, Maine/Mt. Blue) and junior
Chloe Arsenault (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) each scored a goal, while sophomore
Emma Samson (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) added two goals.

How It Happened:
- Drinkwater opened the scoring with unassisted goal in the eighth minute. Ellis made it 2-0 before the first quarter ended with a goal in the 12th minute off of an assist from junior Brooke Carson (Bryant Pond, Maine/Oxford Hills).
- Netting her second goal of the game just second into the second quarter, Drinkwater gave USM a 3-0 lead before the half. .
- The Huskies scored three quick goals in the third quarter to balloon their lead to 6-0 over the Beavrrs. Arsenault scored off of Carson's second assist of the game in the 31st minute, before Drinknwater notched her hat trick with an unassisted goal in the 34th minute. Samson scored the first of her two goals in the game in the 37th minute.
- With a comfortable 6-0 advantage headed into the fourth, Samson closed out the scoring for the Huskies in the 58th minute completing the pass from Adelle Surette (Sabattus, Maine/Oak Hill)
- USM freshman Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) picked up her third win of the season, without making a save.
