GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Samantha Ellis (New Vineyard, Maine/Mt. Blue) scored a hat trick during her Senior Game celebration and six different Huskies scored as the University of Southern Maine rolled over the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs 10-0 in a Little East Conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.
With the 10 goals, Southern Maine has scored 63 this season, and has established a new single-season record for goals, breaking the former mark of 62 set during the 2013 season. USM is outscoring its opponents 63-30 so far this season.
The Huskies have won three straight, and lead the series over UMD 22-17-2.

How It Happened:
- Junior Brooke Carson (Bryant Pond, Maine/Oxford Hills) scored the first of her two goals in the game in the fourth minute following an assist from classmate Chloe Arsenault (Boothbay, Maine).
- Ellis scored the Huskies next three goals, scoring in the fifth and 10th minute to give USM a 3-0 lead before the first quarter expired, and then completing the hat trick in the 19th minute as part of a three-goal second quarter for the Huskies. Junior Hannah Banks (Belfast, Maine) assisted on Ellis' first goal, while Carson notched the assist on the second.
- USM took a 6-0 lead into the half, as Banks scored her fourth goal of the season in the 21st minute, and sophomore Ginny Twitchell (Turner, Maine/Leavitt) scored her fifth goal of the season on a laser of a shot in the 22nd.
- Junior Jordan Cummings (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) made it 7-0 in the third quarter converting a penalty stroke in the 43rd minute, before USM tacked on three more goals in the fourth for the 10-0 final.
- Carson scored her 12th goal of the season in the 49th minute, followed by an Arsenault goal in the 52nd off of an assist from sophomore Abigail Chartier (Lewiston, Maine). Sophomore Adelle Surette (Sabattus, Maine/Oak Hill) rounded out the scoring in the 55th minute.
