GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Hayes Estrella (Kennebunk, Maine/Thornton Academy) made 10 saves and several outstanding defensive plays to help the University of Southern Maine Huskies draw with the Plymouth State University Panthers 0-0 Wednesday night at Hannaford Field in a Little East Conference men's soccer game.
Facing each other for the 75
th time in series history the series is now 56-14-5 in favor of the Panthers. USM lost 2-1 in overtime in 2021, and in 2019, both teams played to a 2-2 overtime draw.
Southern Maine is now 3-4-5 overall and 0-3-2 in the Little East. The Huskies are unbeaten in their last four games (1-0-3), and have played to back-to-back draws.

How It Happened:
- Both teams had chances on goal midway through the opening half, but neither Huskies or Panthers could break through. USM junior Will Smith (Northborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) put one on frame in the 21st minute, but PSU goalkeeper Nicolas Cornejo came up with the stop.
- Estrella made a key save in each half, halting a one-on-one attempt by charging off his line and making stop, and then had a fingertip save over the cross bar in the 62nd minute on an attempt from Sondre Asheim.
- The Huskies' best chance game in the 51st minute off of the foot from sophomore Tyler St. Martin (Lebanon, N.H.) but his attempt was saved by Cornejo and then corralled on the deflection.

Inside The Stats:
- Estrella's shutout is his sixth of the season, and moves him to fifth in single-season records. He has eight shutouts in his USM career.

Southern Maine remains at home on Saturday (12:00 pm), taking on Rhode Island College in Little East Conference action as part of USM's Homecoming Weekend. The Huskies will then host non-conference opponent Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday (1:00 pm).
