WORCESTER, Mass.  –  Senior Jake Peavey (South China, Maine/Erskine Academy) and David Kurker (Needham, Mass.) each posted a 2-0 day to highlight a dominant performance by the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a pair of dual meets at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in New England Wrestling Association action Sunday afternoon at the Sports & Recreation Center.
 
Southern Maine defeated Hunter College 55-0 in its opening match, and then earned a 35-12 over WPI. With the pair of wins the Huskies are now 7-3 in dual meet action this season.  Hunter is 0-7, while WPI falls to 2-11.
 
On the Mat:

• Southern Maine had four wins by fall in its opening win against Hunter.  Senior Antoine Grace (Queensbury, N.Y.) opened the match pinning Hunter's Diego Pereze in 1:16 at 125.  Senior Kevin Moore (Jay, Maine/Mt. Blue) pinned Jahongir Dayronov in 1:03 at 149.  At 157, freshman Tyler Haynes (Metuchen, N.J.) pinned Naman Basin in 1:52, while Kurker earned his first victory of the day pinning Mohamed Khalil in 1:24 at 165. 
• Against WPI, sophomore Ethan Ford (North Andover, Mass.) scored the first points of the match for the Huskies earning a 12-0 major decision against Tom Gradwell. 
• Freshman Colby Frost (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) gave USM its lead for good earning a win by fall in 4:16 over Caden Crist at 149 pounds.  Senior Jeremy Sendrowski (Scarborough, Maine) followed Frost with a win by fall of his own pinning WPI's Matt Rothman in 4:49 fat 157 pounds.
• After a loss at 165, USM won the final four matches of the day, including an 8-4 win by Kurker at 174. Peavey closed out the match with a major decision win over Chris Gens, 13-2

Southern Maine travels to Trinity College for dual meets with Trinity, Western New England and Plymouth State on Saturday, February 5.
