Women’s Track and Field 7th in USTFCCCA Rankings

GORHAM, Maine– The University of Southern Maine Women's Track and Field team was ranked seventh in the East Region when the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their week one regional rankings on Monday, January 24th. 

Numerous Huskies have turned in performances that rank in the top 25 in Division III this season. In the 55m dash, sophomores Catrional Gould (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) and Emma Noonan (Steep Falls/Bonny Eagle) rank within the top 15 in Division III. Gould ranks sixth with a time of 7.50 and Noonan twelvth at 7.58. Freshman Anna Reny (Gardiner, Maine/Cony) and junior Ana Hewett (Sidney, Maine/Messalonskee) rank fourth and sixth in Division III with times of 9.16s and 9.22s, respectively. In field events, sophomore Olivia Jalbert (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) ranks seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.67m.

Tufts University grabbed the first place ranking this week, followed by MIT, Colby, Bowdoin, and Bates, rounding out the top ten. The Huskies are the top ranked Little East Conference team in the region.

This weekend, the Huskies are slated to host the USM Husky Invitational on Saturday, January 29th.
