Huskies’ Battle Husson to 1-1 2OT Draw

USM travels to Curry College on Saturday (1:00 pm).

BANGOR, Maine –  Freshman Tyler St. Martin (Lebanon, NH) scored his first intercollegiate goal in the 69th minute to pull his team even as the University of Southern Maine Huskies earned a 1-1 double overtime draw against the Husson University Eagles Wednesday night at Boucher Field. 
            Playing in their season opener, the Huskies' start their season at 0-0-1 and now lead the series with Husson 22-18-6 in 46 meetings.  Husson was also playing in its 2021 opener. In their last meeting, the Eagles defeated USM 2-1 on September 6, 2019.

How It Happened:
  • Husson got on the scoreboard first as Pablo Maroto Yepes put the Eagles up 1-0 in the 28th minute. 
  • Husson outshot USM 5-1 in the opening half and remained up 1-0 on Yepes' goal.
  • In the second half, St. Martin connected for the equalizer on the Huskies' second shot of the game and first shot of the second half. 
  • Husky goalkeeper junior Jacob Satires (Hampton, NH/Bedford) faced two shots on goal and made one save to backstop USM to the draw. 
  • Husson goalkeeper Benjamin Powell also faced two shots on goal, making one save.
