PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Rhode Island College Anchormen swept the singles and doubles points on their way to an 9-0 win over Southern Maine on Saturday in Providence. With the win, the Anchormen move to 6-0 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 2-4. 

Senior Adam Papayoanou (Valencia, Calif/Hart) challenged RIC's Alex Bourque, winning three points in the first set, but was unable to hang on and dropped his match at first singles 6-3, 6-2. Freshman Ethan Rudnicki (Levant, Maine/Hermon) played a solid second set against Ethan Hoy at fourth singles, but ultimately lost 6-1, 6-4. At second singles, freshman Cole Ouellette, reigning LEC Rookie of the Week, pushed Max Blais in the first set, before falling 6-3, 6-1. Jonathan Bartuccio-Pereira (St. Bruno, Quebec/Antoine-Girourard), Antoine Gignac (Quebec City, Quebec/St.Lawrence), and Gabriel Couture (Boucherville, Quebec/Fadette) all suffered losses at third, fifth, and sixth singles, respectively.

At second doubles against Blais and Mike Shea, Couture and Bartuccio-Pereira put up a strong string of points, but ultimately fell 8-3. In the other two doubles matches of the day, Papayoanou and Ouellette played at first doubles against Bourque and Michael Crawley and lost 8-2, while Rudnicki and Gignac lost 8-0 to Hoy and Josh Brian at third doubles.

This match concludes the regular season for both the Huskies and the Anchormen.
