#5 Elmira Shutout Huskies 4-0

ELMIRA, NEW YORK – Coming off an impressive win yesterday the University of Southern Maine women's ice hockey program was defeated 4-0 to no. 5 nationally-ranked and New England Hockey Conference opponent Elmira College Saturday afternoon. 
 
When and Where: Saturday, November 6, 2021 – Elmira College – Murray Athletic Center
 
Score: Soaring Eagles 4, Huskies 0
 
History: This was the first meeting between the two programs. Elmira lead the series 1-0-0.
 
The Records: Southern Maine: 2-2-0, 1-1-0 NEHC; Elmira: 3-0-0, 2-0-0
 
The Goaltenders: sophomore Haley McKim (Moncton, NB, Canada): 2-2-0, 47 saves, .947 save percentage; Leonie Kuehberger: 2-0-0, 19 saves, 1.000 save percentage, shutout.
 
Standout Huskies: Haley McKim: career-high 47 saves; graduate forward Shannon Colbert (Manomet, Massachusetts): five shots, three blocked shots, 14 face-off wins. 
 
Standout Soaring Eagles: Emma Crocker: two goals; Madi Morton: one goal, two assists, three points; Eliza Beaudin: three assists.
 
How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
-Holley Riva cracked the scoring column for the Soaring Eagles in the first period. In the second, Emma Crocker and Madi Morton cashed in back-to-back power-play goals, and then in the third, Crocker chipped in her second point of the contest.
 
-Elmira was 2-for-5 (40%) on the power play and scored on their first two tries. They recorded eight of their 14 shots on their second advantage in the second period. 
 
-McKim's 47 saves were easily a new personal best for the sophomore netminder bettering her previous total of 33 this year versus Endicott (10/30/21) and last night at William Smith. 
 
-Shannon Colbert paved the way for the Huskies on defense with three blocked shots which were a contest-high.
