How It Happened:

-Holding an 8-7 advantage, the Huskies exploded for seven consecutive markers in the early stages of the first set getting two blocks at the middle by senior setter Sophie Lindsay (Sierra Madre, CA) and Haggerty to lead 15-7. Three straight USM miscues brought Husson within four, 17-13. The navy and gold countered with the final eight points of the set to win 25-13.

-In the second set, Lindsay set up Delloiacono for a kill on the left side to move ahead 7-2 early. A few chances later, another Husky binge a 6-1 spurt which included a Haggerty ace pushed the hosts ahead 13-5. Cheyenne Young did her best to cut her teams' deficit with a kill on the left pin. USM took over the set with six consecutive tallies with two freshman outside hitter Alizia Lagando (Huron, OH) kills and one ace expanded the Husky margin to 22-12. Eventually, Delloiacono iced the set at 25-18.

-With back-to-back aces off the serve of Nicole Hobbs the Eagles leveled the third set at seven all. Two Lagando kills coupled with three Husson mistakes upped the Husky edge to 12-7. Southern Maine eventually took another double-digit lead late via a Haggerty ace before the final kill by Delloiacono.
