GORHAM, Maine – Senior Rony Morales (Seekonk, Mass.) converted a penalty kick in the 55
th minute to lead the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs to a 1-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.
Facing each other for the 32
nd time in series history, the teams entered the contest 1-1-1 in their last three meetings. UMass Dartmouth is now 22-8-2 all-time against Southern Maine.

How It Happened:
- In an evenly played contest, both the Huskies and Corsairs had quality attempts in the opening moments of the contest. Junior Sean Brueninghaus (Superior, Wisc./Duluth East) went narrowly wide in the opening 30 seconds on a strong build up from the middle.
- UMD countered with a shot off of the cross bar in the second minute from freshman Lucas Passaro (Wellesley, Mass.).
- Despite the early chances, both teams were scoreless at the half. UMD had two shots on frame, while the Huskies had one in the opening frame.
- Morales' second goal of the season was the game-winner. Stepping to the spot at 54:05, Morales put the ball to the lower right corner for the score.
The Goalkeepers:
- Junior Jacob Statires (Hampton, N.H.) made four saves in the loss.
- Senior Jake Castro (Swansea, Mass./Bishop Connolly) made on save for the Corsairs.
