Ron Chicoine

             Ron Chicoinebegins his third year as head coach of the men's tennis program atUSM in the spring of 2012.  Chicoine,who had a remarkablysuccessful high school coaching career at Lewiston High School,retired from high school coaching after nine years at Lewiston in2011.  He guided the Blue Devils over those nine seasons to animpressive 137-2 record.  His teams won the Eastern MaineRegional championship all nine years during his tenure, capturingthe Class A State Championship 8 of those nine years with onerunner-up finish.  For those efforts Chicoine was named theMaine Sunday Telegram Coach of the Year in 2007 and KVAC Boy'sCoach of the Year in 2004, 2006 and 2011.

           A former four-year collegiate player for the University of Maine,including a three-year stint as the Black Bears top singles playerand team captain, Chicoine also served as the interim head coachfor one season (1984-85) at his alma mater.  Chicoine earnedAll-New England honors in 1984.  Still actively playing,Chicoine has been ranked number one in the Men's Open Doubles forMaine with partner Steve Eddy.

           Chicoine earned his MD from the University of Vermont in 1989 afterearning his undergraduate degree in zoology from the University ofMaine in 1985.  He is currently a staff anesthesiologist atSt. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. Chicoine is amember of the Maine Society of Anesthesiologists and the AmericanSociety of Anesthesiology.  Chicoine served as the presidentof the Maine Society of Anesthesiologist from 1996-2001.
