As the most prolific scorer in Maine High School and collegebasketball history, Raymond Alley brings a world of knowledge andexperience to Karl Henrickson’s coaching staff.

 

As an explosive guard for Vinalhaven High School and HussonUniversity, Alley is the all-time scoring leader in both Maineschoolboy (2,306 points) and college basketball (2,657 points).

 

Alley ranks among the career statistic leaders in severalcategories at Husson, including first in three-point makes andattempts (370/975); second in scoring average (20.1 PPG); second infield goal makes and attempts (951/2,135); third in assists (530);third in free throws made (385); third in free throw percentage(78.6 percent); fourth in steals (201); and fourth in games played(132).    

 

“Ray’s influence on the young men in our program isoutstanding and the respect he earned in basketball is legendary inour state and throughout the Northeast,” Henrickson said.“His focus for the Huskies will be individual development,offering his perspective on our offensive efforts, and also what ittakes to be successful.”

 

A 1995 graduate of Husson, Alley was inducted into the HussonUniversity Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005. His number was retiredand hangs in the rafters of Newman Gymnasium on the Hussoncampus.

 

Before joining the Southern Maine coaching staff, Alley coachedand produced quality teams at Eastern Maine Community College inBangor.

 

When not assisting at USM, Alley focuses on his four daughters,Raychel, Emma, Katherine and Alisyn, as well as his successfulbusiness endeavors.
