Julio Santiago joined the University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling program ahead of the 2005-2006 season and has since been elevated to the position of Associate Head Coach.  A 2010 recipient of the New England Wrestling Association's (NEWA) Assistant Coach of the Year award, Santiago's dedication and commitment to Huskies' wrestling has helped USM achieve new levels of success.  

During Santiago's tenure with the Huskies, Southern Maine has earned three Team Sportsmanship Awards (2005, 2006 and 2009) from NEWA. USM has also produced several All-American and Academic All-Americans in this time as well as regional champions.  

From Middletown, N.Y., Santiago was a NJCAA national qualifier while wrestling at SUNY-Delhi in 2000.  A 2004 graduate of Oneonta State, Santiago earned the Steve Blackman Award, given to the student-athlete who succeeded despite numerous obstacles and adversity.
