The eighth head coach in program history, Angela Mallis is entering her fourth season as head coach of the women's lacrosse team in 2024. In her first season with the Huskies, Mallis led the team to a 6-3 record, which marked the best win/loss percentage in program history. The Huskies finished second in the conference with a 5-2 record in LEC play. Mallis mentored five Huskies who were named to the LEC All-Conference team at the end of the season, which is tied for the most in a single season since the 2008 season. In 2023, Mallis was named the LEC Coach of the Year after guilding the Huskies to the number three seed in the conference tournament. Her 2023 squad had four All-LEC honorees.
Mallis, a 2017 graduate of Wheaton (Mass.) College with a bachelor's degree in sociology, served three seasons as an assistant coach at Springfield College. She helped guide the Pride to a conference championship in 2019 and NCAA tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019. Mallis also spent one year as an assistant coach at Southern Maine in 2017. Mallis also has been a travel coach with the LaxPlus Club (South Windsor, Conn.) in 2018-20 and the Maineiax Lacrosse Club (Portland, Maine) in 2017-2018.
"We're very fortunate to have someone of Angela's ability able to step in and direct our women's lacrosse program," said Bean. "Angela is no stranger to our program and is widely respected in New England lacrosse circles. Her experiences as an assistant coach at Springfield and at USM, along with her club coaching background, have prepared her very well for her first collegiate head coaching position."
During her four-year collegiate career at Wheaton, Mallis played in 73 games scoring 62 goals and dishing out 18 assists for 80 points. She also collected 137 ground balls and 55 draw controls, and caused 43 opponent turnovers. She received New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference second team honors during her senior season.
