GORHAM, Maine - Senior
Cole Johnson (Orange, Mass./Ralph C. Mahar) scored a goal in each half as the University of Southern Maine Huskies rolled to a 3-0 win over the UMaine Farmington Beavers in a non-conference men's soccer game Wednesday night at Hannaford Field.

Tonight's game marked the 75
th meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the UMaine Farmington Beavers. The Huskies lead the overall series 49-17-9. Southern Maine defeated the Beavers 4-1 in 2025, after battling to a 1-1 draw in 2024.
How It Happened:
- Both teams had early looks took take the lead in the contest. UMF keeper Parker Day stopped an early bid from USM senior Jack Brady (Stuart, Fla.) in the fourth minute, while Wagner made a big stop thwarting a one-on-one chance in the ninth minute from Owen Spera.
- After some back and forth play, the Huskies pinned the ball in their offensive third, and Johnson was able to come up with the lead goal in the 32nd minute cleaning up a loose ball after a save from Day on a shot from junior Ordi Bimvy (Johannesburg, South Africa/The Hill School). The Huskies were able to carry the 1-0 lead into the break.
- A header from UMF's Monte Weaver marked the first shot of the second half, but Wagner turned it aside for one of his five saves in the contest, and the Huskies then took over. Rattling off the next three shots, USM senior Jonah Naratil (Porter, Maine/Sacopee Valley) made it 2-0 with a strong finish inside the box in the 55th minute for his first goal of the season.
- Johnson closed the door on the game in the 69th minute, scoring his fourth goal of the season, on an assist from senior Nick Mauro (York, Maine).
