Huskies Drop Road Game to Plymouth State 22-4

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Colby Walden had two goals and three assists for the Plymouth State University Panthers in a 22-4 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Tuesday in Little East Conference men's lacrosse team action. Junior Owen Gaulrapp (Windham, Maine) led the Huskies with two goals. Senior Rhys Bridges (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) also had two points with a goal and an assist.
 
Junior Kaden Manning (Alfred, Maine/Massabesic) also scored a goal and junior Adam Coley (Valencia, Cail./Cheshire) recorded an assist.
 
Seamus Tattan scored four goals for the Panthers. Eli Gomes also had four points with three goals and an assist.
 
Junior Nick Shevchenko (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) led the Huskies in ground balls with three after going 7-for-18 on faceoffs. Junior Brycen Wolfahrt (Biddeford, Maine) made12 saves in the first half to take the loss. Ethan Schena earned the win for the Panthers and finished with two saves.

How It Happened:
  • Plymouth State scored first with a goal by Brady Hunt from Walden with just under 10 minutes left in the first quarter. The Huskies tied the game when Manning was able to slip behind the defense after a failed clear to get an open look against the Plymouth goalie after getting a pass from Bridges. The Panthers then scored four goals in just over three minutes to take a 5-1 lead into the second quarter.
  • The Panthers outscored the Huskies 8-1 in the second quarter to take a 13-2 lead into halftime. Bridges scored Southern Maine's goal by crashing the net and receiving a pass from Coley in front of the goal. Walden scored twice in the quarter and assisted on a goal.
  • The Panthers scored four more times in the third quarter while conceding a goal to Gaulrapp. Gomes logged two points for the Panthers with a goal and an assist.
  • Gaulrapp scored his second goal of the game with 12 seconds left. The Panthers scored five times in the quarter.
