Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) was 6-for-10 over two games with six RBI and four runs scored to help the No. 28 University of Southern Maine Huskies to a sweep of the VTSU-Castleton Spartans in a Little East Conference baseball doubleheader. Senior

Drew Scialdone (Amesbury, Mass.) each had four RBI as USM defeated Castleton 15-8 in game one and 17-4 (7 innings) in game two.
The Huskies combined for 27 hits over the two games, including 10 for extra bases. Douin's game-one home run puts him at 10 on the season and at 35 in his career. Douin is one off of tying the Huskies' career home run record (36) currently held by Cam Seymour '24.

Game One Recap – Southern Maine 15, Castleton 8
- Trailing 3-0 after the top of the first on a three-run homer from Castleton's Carter Dickinson, Southern Maine took a run back in the bottom of the inning as Douin knocked a solo home run to right field. Following a scoreless second, USM tied the game up in the bottom of the third with two runs, including an RBI single up the middle from junior Peter Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine).
- The score was unchanged until a three-run bottom of the fifth that moved USM ahead 6-3. ANquillare had an RBI double in the inning, while junior Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine) connected on a two-run single.
- The Spartans moved two within two runs in the sixth on an RBI sacrifice fly from Mikey Raby Jr., but the Huskies countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning for a 9-4 lead. Keblinsky had a fielder's choice RBI to start the scoring, while Scialdone tripled to left for an RBI, and Anquillare had an RBI single to short stop.
- Castleton kept the game close however scoring three runs on four hits in the top of the seventh to make it a 9-7 game late. Trey LaVigne had an RBI single to right, while Justin Strozyk picked up an RBI ground out. The Spartans scored their final run of the inning on a fielding error.
- After a quiet seventh from USM, the Spartans inched to within a run in the top of the eighth. After Alex McClelland reached on a fielder's choice play and stole second with two outs, he scored Castleton's eighth run of the game on the Huskies' third error of the game for a 9-8 game.
- Southern Maine closed the door on the game in the bottom of the inning, however, scoring six runs. Freshman Kaiden Morin (Brewer, Maine) had a two-run double to give the Huskies some breathing room before senior Hunter Brissette (Lisbon, Maine) and junior Carter Higgins (Truro, Nova Scotia) went for back-to-back RBI singles for a 13-8 lead. Douin drove in USM's final two runs with a double to the gap in left for two RBI, scoring both Brissette and Higgins.
- Freshman Kason Lewis (South Portland, Maine) closed the game for the Huskies. Getting back-to-back strikeouts to start, Lewis worked back from a two-out single to get the final out on a grounder for the 15-8 final.
Game Two Recap – Southern Maine 17, Castleton 4 (7 innings)
- Junior Gabe Gifford (Bradley, Maine/Old Town) struck out eight in six innings and allowed three earned runs to earn the game-two win.
- Down 1-0 after the top of the third, Southern Maine scored five runs in the bottom of the inning and led the rest of the way. Douin had an RBI single to start, while Anquillare added a two-run single through the left side to highlight the innings.
- Castleton made it 5-3 in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Sebastian Vazquez and a sacrifice RBI from Turner Crews, but Keblinsky's sacrifice fly to right in the bottom of the inning made it 6-3. Keblinsky's sacrifice fly scored Douin who led off the inning with a double down the right field line.
- Carter Dickinson picked up an RBI for the Spartans in the fifth with a double for an unearned run as Tommie Shaw reached on a fielding error, but Southern Maine put up a crooked number in the bottom of the inning, scoring nine times to seize control of the game 15-4.
- The Huskies' nine runs came on six hits, a pair of Spartan errors, and three walks. Firmin had an RBI double to start the scoring, while Brissette drove him in with a single. Douin added two more RBI with a single to right field before the Huskies scored on an error, a wild pitch and an RBI ground out to lead 14-4. Batting around the order, Firmin added two more RBI to his name with a single to left for the eighth and ninth runs.
- Gifford picked up his eighth strikeout of the game in the sixth to start a double-play as Vazquez was caught attempting to steal third. Vazquez had led off the inning with a single for the Spartans.
- USM's Scialdone made it 17-4 in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run double and from there Husky freshman Dan Poirier (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) took over. After a double and a walk, Poirer induced a double-play ball before getting the final out with a strikeout for the 17-4 final.
