How It Happened:
  • With a strong showing from the Huskies' pitching staff, using seven pitchers over the course of seve innings, the Southern Maine offense took care of the rest scoring four runs in the bottom of the first and continuing to put up runs with ease in route to a 27-1 win.
  • The Huskies went up 4-0 early in the first.  Freshman Kaiden Morin (Brewer, Maine) had a sacrifice fly RBI to center field to highlight the inning.
  • Keblinsky made it 6-0 in the second with his first home run of the season, clearing the Huskies' left field fence, for two runs.
  • UMF scored in the top of the third. Ben Mello singled to right for the second and final hit of the game for the Beavers helping put Colby Lewis into scoring position.  Lewis scored on an RBI ground out from Hayden Durrell.
  • Leading 6-1, the Huskies added five more runs on three hits, two walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a UMF error to lead 11-1. Keblinsky had two more RBI in the inning with a single through the left side, while freshman Josh Polchies (Gorham, Maine/Falmouth) had an RBI sacrifice fly and sophomore Drew Scialdone (Amesbury, Mass.) had an RBI walk.
  • Southern Maine blew the game open with 13 runs in the fourth. The Huskies connected on eight hits in the inning, including Anquillare's four-run homer. Keblinsky and Scialdone each had an RBI walk, sophomore Caleb Vacchiano (Cornish, Maine/Sacopee Valley) earned an RBI after being hit by a pitch, and freshman James Main (Northstonington, Conn.) and senior Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) each had RBI singles. The Huskies lead the game 24-1 after the fourth.
  • Husky freshman Isaac Jensen (Arundel, Maine/Kennebunk) earned the win for Southern Maine with a dominant fifth inning outing.  Jensen had a quick 1-2-3 inning getting a pair of strikeouts to sandwich an infield ground out.
  • USM added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 27-1 final.  Southern Maine loaded the bases on a single from Vacchiano, a pinch-hit hit-by-pitch to junior Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine), and a single through the right side from Polchies.  Anquillare picked up an RBI walk for the first run, while Morin had an RBI single through the left side for the second.  Junior Carter Higgins (Truro, Nova Scotia) had the final RBI of the game with a fielder's choice play before UMF ended the inning.
  • USM senior Chris Quigley (Halifax, Mass.) pitched the final inning, getting a fly out and then back-to-back strikeouts ending the game.
