GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Jaycie Christopher (Skowhegan, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's basketball team has been named Little East Conference Player of the Week. Christopher is earning player of the week honors for the fourth time from the LEC.
In the Huskies' lone game of the week, Christopher helped the 25
th-ranked Huskies to a 70-63 win over VTSU-Castleton to close out the regular season and move Southern Maine's record to 23-2 overall and 15-1 in Little East Conference action. Christopher shot 8-for-12 from the field (3-for-5 from three) setting a career-high in points and rebounds with 32 points and 16 rebounds, earning her conference leading 10
th double-double of the season.
Averaging 19.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game, Christopher is shooting 59.0 percent (170-for-288) from the field, and is shooting 49.5 percent (53-for-107) from three-point range. Reaching double-digits in scoring in 24 games, Christopher has a season-high of 32 points, and has scored at least 20 points in 11 games. She has a team and Little East leading 10 double-doubles this season.
Ranked No. 25 in the latest WBCA Division III National Poll, the Huskies (23-2, 15-1 Little East) claimed the 2026 Little East Conference Regular Season Conference Championship, earning the title of regular season champion for the 22
nd time in program history. Southern Maine is the top seed in the upcoming 2026 LEC Women's Basketball Tournament Championship, and will host a conference semifinal game on Friday, February 27 (6:00 pm). The Huskies will host the winner of the No. 4 UMass Boston vs. No. 5 UMass Dartmouth quarterfinal.
