Jackson Scores Twice in 3-2 Loss to Keene State

GORHAM, Maine – Fifth-year senior Jillian Jackson (Fredericton, New Brunswick/Ontario Hockey Academy) scored both goals for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's ice hockey team in a 3-2 loss to the Keene State Owls on Saturday afternoon in Gorham. Keene State's Ellie Patrick also scored twice, while Tabby Jones assisted on all three goals.
 
Keene State's Ai Chung recorded 47 saves while freshman goalie Megan Gawley (Calgary, Alberta) made 15 saves for the Huskies.

Series History:
Despite today's result, the Huskies won the season series over the Owls 2-1 with last night's victory.
 
The Goaltenders:
Keene State: Ai Chung (8-13-0): 60:00, two goals allowed, 47 saves
Southern Maine: Megan Gawley (3-6-0): 58:24, three goals allowed, 15 saves
 
How It Happened:
  • Jackson intercepted the puck for a breakaway opportunity and beat Chung for her 10th goal of the season 5:33 into the first period. The Owls answered with a backdoor goal by Patrick off a feed from Jones with about 10 minutes left in the period.
  • Patrick broke the tie with less than five minutes left in the second period on a breakaway.
  • Keene State added an insurance goal from Emma McNeil with 10:54 left in the third period that was assisted by Jones. The Huskies got back within a goal on a second effort goal by Jackson with 3:43 left to play.
  • Southern Maine nearly tied the game in the closing seconds, but the clock expired just before the puck entered the net.
 
Inside The Stats:
  • The teams combined for 12 penalties, but all five goals were scored at even strength.
  • Southern Maine led 49-18 in shots on goal and 37-31 in faceoff wins.
  • Graduate student Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial) went 12-for-15 on faceoffs to lead the Huskies.
  • Freshman Gracelyn Koch (Maple Grove, New Brunswick) also won 10 faceoffs, going 10-for-18.

The Huskies have earned the No. 3 seed in the 2026 Little East Conference Women's Ice Hockey Championship Tournament, presented by Townsend Hockey. They will host No. 6 seed Plymouth State on Wednesday, February 25 in the USM Ice Arena.
