Boudreau, Flagg, Hall Lead Southern Maine Past Plymouth State 3-1; Huskies Secure 2026 Little East Regular Season Title

GORHAM, Maine  – Sophomores Allie Flagg (Brewer, Maine) and Mackenzie Hall (Westbrook, Maine) and freshman Lizalynn Boudreau (Freeport, Maine) each scored a goal to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 3-1 win over the Plymouth State University Panthers in a Little East Conference field hockey game Tuesday night at Hannaford Field.

With the win, Southern Maine improves to 6-0 in the Little East Conference and secures the no. 1 seed, and first-round bye, for the upcoming Little East Conference Championship tournament.  The Huskies are also guaranteed at least a share of the 2026 Little East Regular Season Title.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Southern Maine controlled possession and the offense in the opening half, outshooting the Panthers 9-0 (3-0 on goal) in the opening half, but remained tied with the Panthers through the first and second quarter.
  • The Huskies snagged a 1-0 lead midway through the third quarter.  Flagg lifted her fifth goal of the season with a reverse stick in the 39th minute on a forward pass from Hall in the circle.  However, Plymouth State answered back immediately scoring just 39 seconds later.  Ellie Monahan scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season on an assist from Lexi Berrettini for the tie score.
  • Boudreau scored the first goal of her field hockey career in the 48th minute to put the Huskies ahead.  Intercepting a PSU pass just over the midfield mark, Boudreau displayed outstanding speed and stick skills to weaver through the Panther defense and rifling off a shot to the far post.
  • Hall slammed the door shut on the game in the 53rd minute, taking a pass out of the air from sophomore Madison Niles (Benton, Maine/Lawrence) and knocking it down into the goal for the 3-1 final.  Hall's goal is her fourth of the season.

INSIDE THE STATS:
  • Southern Maine led in shots 24-3 (14-2 on goal). Both teams were even in penalty corners with USM holding a slim 5-4 advantage.
  • The Huskies have been regular season champions of the Little East Conference three times: 2022, 2023 and now 2026.
