Sixty-Six University of Southern Maine Student-Athletes Named to 2025 Spring Sport Little East Conference All-Academic Team

GORHAM, Maine – Sixty-six University of Southern Maine student-athletes were announced as part of the 2025 Little East Conference All-Academic Team for spring sports. Students from all four of Southern Maine's Little East Conference sponsored teams have representatives on the academic squad: baseball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, women's outdoor track & field, men's outdoor track & field, men's tennis and softball.

To be named to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least a full academic year.

Among the nine Little East Conference institutions, Southern Maine ranks third for the most student-athletes to achieve the academic distinction while competing in all seven of the LEC spring championship sports. The Huskies' 2025 Little East Conference Champion Women's Outdoor Track & Field team had 15 student-athletes represented on the list, while the men's outdoor track & field team had 16 to lead the way in total student-athletes named. Southern Maine's 2025 women's outdoor track & field championship was the programs fifth consecutive championship, and 24th overall out of 27 available titles.

Huskies' softball which finished second in the 2025 regular season standings placed nine student-athletes on the academic list, while the men's tennis team, earning its first LEC playoff berth since the 2022 season, had four of its members honored.  Twelve members of the Southern Maine women's lacrosse 24-four member team earned the accolade as the Huskies' finished third in the regular season advancing to the conference semifinals, and eight members of the Huskies' baseball team were recognized for their academic excellence.  Men's lacrosse had a pair of student-athletes honored. Six of the Huskies' spring sponsored sports competed in their respective conference championship tournaments or events.

Thirty-two different University of Southern Maine majors are represented by the Huskies' Spring Sport All-Academic Team roster with Exercise Science (8), Nursing (7), Elementary Education (6) leading the way.  Health Sciences (4), Marketing (4) and Criminology (4) are among the more popular academic majors.

Eighteen of the 66 members of the Little East Conference Spring Sport All-Academic team were also recognized with post-season honors from the LEC after their respective competition season.  Among the program highlights are 2025 Little East Conference Field Athlete of the Year and second team NCAA All-American senior Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) and first team 2025 NCAA All-American Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy); three second team NCAA All-Americans from men's outdoor track & field: senior Ben Drummey (Biddeford, Maine) and graduate students Will Carrolton (Bath, Maine) and Ethan Shain (Sanford, Maine); All-Little East and ABCA All-Region first team first baseman Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine) of the Huskies' baseball team, first team All-Little East and All-State first baseman Kendall Migliorini (Salem, NH) of the Southern Maine softball team, and 2025 Little East Conference Rookie of the Year and IWLCA second team All-Region forward Katelyn D'Appolonia (Yarmouth, Maine).
