How It Happened – Game One: Southern Maine 10, VTSU-Castleton 6
  • Brissette, senior Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy), junior Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony), and sophomore Peter Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine) each had two RBI to lead Southern Maine to a 10-6 win in the game one opener.
  • USM scored in the top of the first on Keblinsky's RBI single up the middle, and led the rest of the game in the win.  USM took a 2-0 lead in the second on Brissette's fielder's choice RBI. VTSU-Castleton halved its deficit on an RBI ground out from Tyler Dubreil for a 2-1 scoreline.
  • In the third both teams scored one and USM continued to lead 3-2. LeBlond picked up the RBI for the Huskies in the third, while Jason Cardoza led off the Spartans' third inning with a solo home run.
  • Southern Maine used a four-run top of the fourth to separate itself from the Spartans.  Keblinsky and sophomore Mike Anquillare (North Haven, Conn.) each had RBI singles in the inning for the Huskies for a 7-2 lead.
  • The Spartans continued to fight and trailed 7-5 after the fifth inning. Jack Boyle had an RBI double in the fourth and VTSU-Castleton scored twice in the fifth on an RBI fielder's choice from Tyler Dubriel and a stolen base run from Tommie Shaw.
  • With its lead cut to two runs, 7-5, Southern Maine added a run in the top of the sixth on an RBI from Douin, and then two more in the seventh for a 10-5 lead. In the seventh, LeBlond hit an RBI double to center scoring Anquillare who led off the inning with a single.  Three batters later, Brissette drove in LeBlond with a sacrifice fly to right.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, the Spartans scored their final run of the game as Jack Boyle singled through the right side for an RBI.  Keblinsky pitched the final two innings for the Huskies, keeping the Spartans off the scoreboard and allowing just one hit with a pair of strikeouts.

How It Happened – Game Two: Southern Maine 10, VTSU-Castleton 7
  • Brissette cranked out a pair of home runs in game two, including a three-run home run in the fourth inning, as the Huskies pelted the Spartan pitchers for 14 hits in the game two win, including seven for extra bases. Senior Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) was 4-for-5 at the plate with an RBI.
  • VTSU-Castleton had the lead on the Huskies in the early innings, scoring the first run of the game in the second inning on an RBI single up the middle from Tommie Shaw.  The Spartans led 4-1 after three full.  VTSU-Castleton's Jackson Cardozo had a three-run home run as part of a three-hit inning for the Spartans.
  • The Huskies bounced back however scoring six unearned runs with three in the top of the fourth and fifth inning.  Brissette's home run in the fourth tied the game for Southern Maine. In the fifth, the Huskies took advantage of a pair of VTSU-Castleton fielding errors and a two-run home run from graduate student Sam Economy (Hampden, Maine) to leap ahead 7-4.
  • The score remained the same through the sixth inning before Brissette launched his second home run of the game in the top of the seventh for an 8-4 lead.
  • In the bottom of the eighth, Spartan Bradon Ramirez singled in a run as part of a four-hit inning for VTSU-Castleton, but the Huskies came back with two runs in the top of the ninth to lead 10-5. Poole had an RBI single to center for the Huskies, while sophomore Peter Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine) had a sacrifice fly RBI to right field for the second run.
  • In their final at-bat, the Spartans pushed two runs across the board to cut their deficit to 10-7. Jason Cardozo had a two-run, two-out home run in the inning, but Husky reliever Kyle Skolfield (Gorham, Maine) was able to get the final out for the 10-7 final.
  • Husky starter Carson Black (Porter, Maine/Sacopee Valley) earned the win firing six innings. He struck out seven and allowed four hits and a pair of walks for four earned runs.
