How It Happened:
  • The Gulls jumped out early scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to the 12-2 win as Southern Maine committed seven fielding errors in the contest.  Frammartino had a two-run double to center field as part of the Gulls' four-run first.
  • Southern Maine took one run back in the top of the first to cut its deficit to 4-1. Junior Chris Quigley (Halifax, Mass./Silver Lake Regional) had a two-out RBI single to left to plate the Huskies first run of the game.  However, the Gulls returns their lead to four runs in the home half of the inning, taking advantage of a pair of Husky fielding errors, and a hit by pitch.
  • Senior Anthony Poole led off the third with a triple to the gap in right field for the Huskies, and then came around to score USM's final run of the game as Endicott misplayed a ball in the infield with two outs on the board. Poole's triple is his fifth extra base hit of the season, and fourth triple of his career.
  • Leading 5-2 after the top of the third, Endicott scored twice in the bottom of the inning scoring a pair of unearned runs to lead 7-2. Neither team score again until the bottom of the sixth when the Gulls put the game away with four runs. Mulready had a two-run single up the middle to start the scoring, while Robbie Wladowski had an RBI single to short stop. All four of the Gulls runs in the inning were unearned as USM committed a pair of errors.
  • Wladowski tacked on one more run in the bottom for the eight for the 12-2 final, scoring Brendan Walsh with a sacrifice fly to foul territory in right field.
