How It Happened:
- The Huskies struck first taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on an RBI single from freshman TJ Llerena (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy). Llerena drove in senior Jack LeBlond who reached safely after drawing a 1-0 walk.
- The Profs responded in the home half of the inning, scoring twice, to lead 2-1. Rowan used two hits and took advantage of a fielding error in the inning. Nick Struble led off the inning with a double down the left field line, and scored on a bunt single that was then misplayed. With Struble advancing to third on the previous play, Karson Harcourt picked up the RBI with a ground out to short.
- USM had runners on first and third with one out in the top of the third, but the Huskies' opportunity was erased by a double-play ball to end the threat. Husky starter Peter Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine) kept the game at 2-1 in the home half of the third, retiring the side in order with two strikeouts.
- The Huskies again had runners in scoring position in the top of the fourth following a single up the middle from Keblinsky and a single to left from sophomore Mike Anquillare (North Haven, Conn./North Haven), but Shannon came back with back-to-back strikeouts to head to the bottom of the fourth.
- After a quite fourth, USM tied the game up at 2-2 in the top of the fifth. Junior Chris Quigley (Halifax, Mass./Silver Lake Regional) led off the inning with a single, and moved up to second after senior Hunter Brissette (Lisbon, Maine/Lisbon Falls) was hit by a pitch. With one out, both Brissette moved up to second and third on a wild pitch before junior Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) tied the game up with sacrifice fly ball to left field to score Quigley.
- Knotted up at 2-2, Rowan exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to seize control of the game for good. The Profs had six hits and three walks in the inning, and had two batters hit by a pitch. Davis had a two-run double down the right field line in the inning, while Cannon had a two-run single to highlight the Rowan offense.
- The game was scoreless over the next inning and a half before the Profs invoked the 10-run rule with a single run in the bottom of the seventh. Rowan's Stuble had the RBI walk to seal the win.
