Southern Maine Preps for 2025 Little East Conference Quarterfinal

No. 3 Huskies' Host No. 6 Plymouth State on Tuesday (7:00 pm)


GORHAM, Maine  –  Closing out the Little East Conference regular-season with a 4-2 record the University of Southern Maine Huskies' field hockey team secured the third seed  in the upcoming Little East Conference Championship tournament.
 
As the third seed, Southern Maine (11-9, 4-2 Little East) will host sixth seed Plymouth State University Panthers on Tuesday, November 4 (7:00 pm) at Hannaford Field in Gorham, Maine.  Southern Maine faced Plymouth State on the road during the regular season, defeating the Panthers 4-1 on October 28.  Junior Bri Townsend (Newport, Maine/Nokomis) recorded a hat trick in the win.
 
Averaging 1.90 goals per game, the Huskies' have totaled 38 goals this season, including 14 goals in six Little East Conference games. Townsend leads the way with 11 goals this season, including five game-winning goals.  Freshman Maddie Niles (Benton, Maine/Lawrence) has earned LEC Rookie of the Week honors four times this season and has seven goals, and four assists for 18 points.  Fellow rookie Mackenzie Hall (Westbrook, Maine) has five goals, including three game-winners.
 
Defensively, Husky senior Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) has led fro the back line and has 13 defensive saves – among the highest in the nation.  Sophomore Julia Elie (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) has three defensive saves and has played critical minutes in conferfence action. 
 
The Huskies have relied on senior Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) in goal for a majority of the 2025 season. She has a  .779 save percentage and a 1.86 goals against average – and is currently leading the conference in goals against average (1.858), and in shutouts (3).
