BOSTON - Mahari Guerrier had a big double-double with a game-high 34 points on 14-of-23 shooting from the field to go with a 11 rebounds, four assists, a blocked shot and a steal to lead the Emmanuel College Saints to an 83-70 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Jean Yawkey Center.
Danny Adams joined Guerrier in double-digits with 19 points (7-for-14), while Ryan Rangel and Manny Duran had 12 and 10 points each as the Saints rallied from a second-half deficit to earn the win.

Today's game marks the first meeting between the Huskies and the Emmanuel College Saints.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ahead by a bucket, 18-16, with just under 10 minutes to go in the first half, Southern Maine put together a 10-2 run over the next 2:39 to grow its lead to 10, 28-18, with 6:48 to play. Five different Huskies contributed to the run capped by a layup from senior Stephen Gabriel III.
- The Huskies kept a three-possession lead and were ahead of the Saints, 32-23, with 5:10 until the halftime break before the Saints rallied to outscore Southern Maine 12-4 in the final 4:30 of the game. Mahari Guerrier led the Saints with eight points in the run, but the Huskies clung to a narrow 36-35 halftime lead.
- Andrew Hartel and Evans Sterling each scored four points as part of a 15-9 run for the Huskies in the first 5:39 of the second half to give Southern Maine some breathing room, 51-44, with 14:21 on the clock.
- The next four minutes of the game were all Saints however as Emmanuel outpaced Southern Maine 16-4 to snag a 60-55 lead with 10:10 to play. The Saints were 8-for-8 from the field during their run and were led by eight points from Manny Duran.
- USM trailed by four, 66-62, on a turnaround jumper from Andrew Hartel with 6:48 on the clock, but the Saints responded with a jumper and a three from Ryan Rangel and Danny Adams respectively to lead 71-62 with just over five minutes to play.
- The Huskies cut the lead to six, 71-65, after a pair of free throws from Carter Galley with 4:26 to go, but the Saints outscored USM 12-5 down the stretch for the 83-70 win, including a 5-for-5 effort from the free throw line. Conversely, Southern Maine's shots would not fall, going 2-for-8 in the final minutes with a pair of turnovers.
Inside The Statistics:
- Both teams shot 46.6 percent from the field for the game. Southern Maine was 27-for-58 from the floor, while the Saints were 34-to-73. The Saints shot 57.7 percent in the second half, 20-for-35, outscoring USM 48-34 in the second stanza.
- Emmanuel led in rebounds 40-37, and had a 16-11 lead in offensive boards. The Saints scored 18 second-chance points compared to eight for Southern Maine.

Southern Maine remains on the road and will then compete in the Colby College Classic Tip Off Tournament Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22. Southern Maine will face Endicott College at 7:00 pm on Friday, and then take on Suffolk University on Saturday (3:00 pm). USM remains on the road on Tuesday at Bates College (7:30 pm). The Huskies return to action at home against Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on Sunday, November 30 (6:00 pm) for the Costello Cup.
