GORHAM, Maine – Samantha Thebarge scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season, and goalkeeper Eliya Drummond protected the shutout to lead the Thomas College Terriers to a 1-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference field hockey game Wednesday night at Hannaford Field.

Meeting for the 10th time, Thomas leads the series 7-3. Southern Maine earned a 3-1 win in 2023, and a 6-5 win in 2021. Thomas defeated the Huskies, 3-2 in 2024, 5-0 in 2022 and 1-0 in 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Southern Maine pressured early putting a pair of shots on target in the fifth minute; however Drummond made a quick pad save and Terrier back McKenzie Clay earned a defensive save to keep the score 0-0. Both teams had three shots in the opening quarter, but the game remained scoreless.
- Earning a penalty corner in the 22nd minute, Thomas' Maci Freeman inserted the ball to the top of the circle, and Thebarge hit a hard low and drive shot to the left of the cage for the 1-0 Terrier lead.
- The Huskies turned in two more solid attempts for an equalizer in the second frame. Sophomore Leah Thibodeau's (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) attempt ricocheted off the post and out of play with just 42 seconds until halftime.
- USM outshot Thomas 5-1 in the third, but were unable to push one past Drummond who made four saves in the third. In the final quarter neither team generated much offense with USM registering one shot in the fourth, and earning a pair of penalty corners.

- Southern Maine had a 12-5 lead in shots (6-4 on goal), and a 6-3 lead in penalty corners.
