How It Happened:
- RIC scored the first basket of the game and led 8-2 with 6:36 to play in the first quarter after a three from Medbury. Neither team scored over the next three minutes before Wiles connected on two free throws for Southern Maine for an 8-4 game. RIC led 10-4 with 1:36 on the clock before Husky freshman Ali Portas (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) canned a three to have the Huskies down 10-7 headed into the second quarter.
- Southern Maine opened the second quarter outscoring RIC 10-5 in the first 5:15 and took a 17-15 lead on a layup from freshman Dakota Shipley (Bath, Maine/Brunswick). Nardolillo scored on the Anchormen's next possession and started an 11-0 run that spanned the next three and a half minutes, including a three from Medbuy that gave RIC a 26-17 lead with 1:15 until the halftime break. Both teams exchanged points in the final seconds and the Anchormen took a 28-19 lead into the second half led by 16 first-half points from Medbury.
- RIC grew its lead to 35-19 early in the third outscoring the Huskies 7-0 in the first 3:45 while holding Southern Maine to a 0-for-8 effort from the field. With less than six to go in the third, Wiles stopped the Huskies' scoring drought with a three, and went on to score nine of her team's next 11 points, including a layup at the 3:24 mark to make it a 42-30 game in favor of RIC. A traditional three-point play from USM's York made it a 13-point game, 48-35, with 1:01 to go, before RIC scored the final bucket of the quarter – a layup from Maggie Schwab – to take a solid 50-35 lead into the fourth.
- Scoring 22 of her career-high 26 points in the second half, Wiles continued her strong play and scored USM's first five points of the fourth, on a layup and a three-pointer, as the Huskies used a 7-0 run to trail by eight, 50-42, with 6:17 to go following a pair of free throws from Ramsdell. Medbury and Shalyn Smith scored back-to-back buckets in the paint to put RIC ahead 54-42 with 3:24 left.
- Another score from Wiles and three free throws from York cut the Huskies' deficit to nine, 56-47, with 1:35 on the clock, but RIC got enough from the free throw line to hold for the win 60-51.
