GORHAM, Maine – Four different players scored within the first 17 minutes of the game as the University of Southern Maine Huskies defeated the University of New England Nor'easters 4-3 in a non-conference women's soccer game Wednesday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) each had goals for the Huskies.

Today's game marks the 32nd meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the University of New England. USM leads the overall series 15-14-3. UNE had won two of the last three meetings (2019, 2022) and the Huskies earned a 3-2 win in 2021. In 2023, the Huskies and Nor'easters battled to a 1-1 draw in Biddeford.
How It Happened:
- The Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when McKenna knocked in her first goal of the season on a quick one-two service from Reitchel and Gould.
- Reitchel doubled the USM lead in the 12th minute converting a well-placed assist from senior Ashley Sabatino (Scarborough, Maine) in the box.
- UNE's Tori Keyes scored the first of her two goals in the game in the 13th minute to trim the lead to 2-1 before the Huskies stormed back with a pair of goals in the 16th and 17th minute.
- Huntress scored her second goal of the season to lift USM ahead 3-1. Gould sent in the corner kick service just outside of the penalty area, and Huntress connected on a powerful header to send the ball to the far post. Gould then scored a goal of her own converting a penalty kick for the 4-1 USM advantage.
- UNE scored twice in the second half as Marah Walton made it 4-2 in the 62nd minute, and Keyes converted a penalty kick in the 86th for the 4-3 final.

Already the program record holder in goals (47) and points (114), Gould is now tied for the all-time record in career assists with 20. The current record is shared with Ciera Berthiaume '22 (43 g, 20 a, 106 points).
- Southern Maine outshot the Nor'easters 19-10, and had an 8-3 lead in corner kicks.
