GORHAM, Maine – Abigail Jarvi had a goal and an assist as the Colby College Mules defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 3-2 in a non-conference women's soccer game Wednesday night at Hannaford Field.

Today's game marks the 34
th meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the Colby College Mules. Colby leads the overall series 29-5. Prior to the 2-1 Huskies win over the Mules in 2023, USM had last won against the Mules on October 15, 2008, defeating Colby 2-1 in overtime.
How It Happened:
- The Huskies took the lead early when junior Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) scored her fourth goal of the season in the fifth minute. The Huskies used a high press to turn the ball over in Colby's defensive third and Reitchel capitalized hitting the ball into the high far post corner.
- Colby came back to equalize in the 14th minute when Sophie Degrande notched her third goal of the season turning and hitting a ball to the far post after receiving the ball in the box from Avery Barton. The game stood at 1-1 through the half.
- Colby took a 2-1 lead in the 52nd minute on a goal from Jarvi, and then led 3-2 after Ella Caraluzzi finished a through ball from Jarvi in the 69th minute.
- The Huskies pulled back a goal in the 80th minute to make it 3-2 when freshman Makyla Magid (Golden, Colo./Lakewood) hustled her way to a loose ball in the box and knocked it in for her third goal of the season.

- Reitchel now has 17 goals, 15 assists and 49 points in her career. Her assists are tied for fourth in USM career records, while her points are tied for ninth. Tonight's goal has moved her into a four-way tie for 10th in career goals.
- The Huskies loss at Hannaford Field is their first loss at home in 14 games. Southern Maine had won each of its home games from November 3, 2022 (W, 2-0 vs. Castleton) through September 4, 2024 (W, 4-3 vs. University of New England).
