BRUNSWICK, Maine – Maya Malenfant had a pair of goals as seven different players scored to lead the nationally-ranked Bowdoin College Polar Bears to an 8-0 shutout over the University of Southern Maine Huskies.
It is the second nationally-ranked opponent the Huskies have faced through four games this season.

Tonight's game marked the 53rd meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the Bowdoin College Polar Bears. Bowdoin leads the series 41-6-5, and have won the last 21 games over the Huskies. Southern Maine last defeated Bowdoin on October 8, 2002 by the score of 2-1.
How It Happened:
- Clara Noyes scored in the fifth minute and Malenfant notched the first of her two goals in the ninth as Bowdoin led 2-0 after the first quarter.
- Bowdoin tacked on another pair of goals in the second frame to lead 4-0 at the break.
- In the third, Bowdoin snagged a 5-0 lead as Emily Ferguson converted an assist from Noyes in the 35th minute.
- The Polar Bears closed the door on the game in the fourth quarter adding three more goals, including the Malenfant brace, for the final.
- Southern Maine starter junior Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) made 11 saves in 45 minutes of action.
